A bit out of the way, but definitely worth a visit. On the other side of the industrial area of Kjersing is a fantastic nature area which is perfect for enjoyable walks.
What You Will See
Den Hemmelige Skov is not only a wood but also covers heath and moor.
Apart from the paths in the area, you will also a see paddock with Scottish Highland Cattle put out to pasture. It is possible to go inside the paddock, but dogs are not welcome.
You might wonder about the green boxes in the area. They are water well drillings because originally the area was intended to protect the drinking water supply in Esbjerg.
You can pick flowers, blackberries, cherry plums, hazelnuts, blackthorn for schnapps, and forest apples which are best suited for jelly. By the brook you will find water mint which can be dried and used for tea.
The lunch shelter affords you shelter when you want to enjoy your packed lunch. Here, you will also find interesting information about the wildlife and vegetation in the area.
Dyrehaven at Gl. Vardevej is not far away.
Parking: There is a car park at Kattegatvej (opposite the artisan shop).
Bus: The city bus 3B goes to Nordskrænten v/Nøddelunden and Sydtrafik’s bus 144 stops at Storebæltsvej right by the path into the wood.
